This is a very sweet story full of hope and trying to fit in. It's actually the second book, which I didn't realise. But it's apparently enjoyable as a stand-alone.
Certainty is a novice with minimal magic which does something a bit different. She gets sent on an assignment with the icy Mage Aurelia. Enter forced proximity and not even one bed!
The young ladies find themselves in a hostile environment. Can they win over the locals and fulfil their mission? And can anyone really eat that much garlic?
I love the village and all the characters. I felt immersed in this run-down little corner of the world. And the story arcs were as beautiful as the scenery.
The one bit which gets steamy is closed door. But their journey is full of push and pull conflict.
Low-stakes, new adult, cosy fantasy that warms the cockles of one's heart. Appropriately cheesy!
Always in love and light,
TL
